The kids and I have been to Schroeter Park twice in a week just because they really like this playground. This is a neighborhood playground that the City of Austin maintains. There is no parking lot, just along the street, and the kids like walking up the little gravel path, passing cactus, bluebonnets, and other wildflowers (in the spring) before coming up on the playground.
The playground itself is small, with a low half container wall to mark the boundaries. There is recycled mulch underneath all the playscape, and it cushions falls quite well. The playground has large shade trees, which will be wonderful in the summertime.
The playscape is easy even for a toddler to climb up, and though there are a few openings where a little one can tumble off, it is easy to spot a child. My older one likes the zipline and the curved climbing wall especially. We like also that anytime we have come to Schroeter Park, it has been quiet, and with all the surrounding greenery, there’s a very organic feel to this park.
There are several park benches near the playground for parents to relax and watch the kids. The picnic tables are close to the playground as well. There are walking paths that lead to the basketball court and more picnic tables.
The only drawback of this park is that there are no restrooms. Other than that, this is a great park.
