Springwoods Park in Northwest Austin is one of our favorite parks! There are two large playscapes (one for bigs and one for littles), a sand volleyball court (read: a giant sandbox – bring shovels!), athletic fields, covered pavilions, a tennis court, restrooms, a walking trail that meanders through a mini forest-like setting, and so many trees to climb!
The little kids’ playground has several slides, shorter monkey bars, hanging rings, and a bouncy purple dinosaur.
The big kids’ section is huge and has so many fun attractions! Multiple slides, climbing trees, two different monkey bars, a monkey bar “wall”, a rock climbing structure, a tire swing, regular swings, and so much more!
You could spend hours here providing you bring enough water and snacks! This is also a fantastic park for a birthday party or a picnic. There is plenty of shade thanks to a plethora of trees.
My kids love challenging themselves on the rock climbing structure, the monkey bars, and the tree steps, but the real draw for them is how perfect the trees are for climbing here.
The Rundown
Austin Active Kids Opinion:
We love this park so much! You will want to spend hours here. If you love to hike, be outside in nature, play sports, or play at a playground, you will love it here. It’s got something for everyone!
Outing Time:
We went for a little more than an hour, but could have easily stayed for much longer. If you want to play at the playgrounds, take a walk on the trail, play some tennis, soccer, or baseball, play in the sand volleyball court, and have a picnic, you could easily spend up to 5 hours here!
Park Hours:
5 a.m. – 10 p.m. daily
Reminders:
Bring lots of water and snacks. Bring a bucket and shovel for the sandpit. Bring rackets and tennis balls, a soccer ball, a volleyball, or baseball equipment. Wear comfortable hiking or walking shoes for the trail. A jogging stroller for the trail. There are plenty of covered spaces for a picnic if you’d like to bring one (unless it’s a crowded weekend day full of birthday parties – then the pavilions will most likely be reserved).
