We recently made a stop at El Salido Park in Northwest Austin, part of the Anderson Mill Limited District.
Each time we drive past this park on the way to swim lessons, the kids beg for me to take them to the swimming pool which has a whole kiddie splash area separate from the lap pool. Though the facilities are meant mostly for residents in the district, non-residents may pay additional fees for day use.
My kids love this playground. It doesn’t seem to matter what time of day that we come here, but the park is rarely overcrowded. It is always immaculately maintained. The park is adjacent to an elementary school so sometimes if we come mid-afternoon, my little one likes to watch the “big kids” walk their school playground track while he plays.
There are two playscapes on the playground, one designed for toddlers and the other for older kids. The playscapes have nice shady trees overhead. The kids like the large bench swing and the thing that rotates while they hang onto the circular bar.
Next to the playground is a large pavilion with picnic tables that can be rented for parties. The pool and community centers both may be rented for private parties as well. This park is definitely on my list of park party locations.
The park is just the right size, and it is fairly easy to keep track of kids playing here since the playground is somewhat sandwiched between all the other amenities. There is ample parking. Even though the park is right off of El Salido, it still feels like a neighborhood park as it backs up to several residential homes.
